Organising committee

Joost van Wijngaarden – President/Eventmanager

Hello, my name is Joost van Wijngaarden, 24 years old and lecturer at the HAN University in event management. After bidding in 2017 for getting the championship to Nijmegen, I led the organising committee in 2018-2019. In 2019-2020 I will be the constant factor in the student board as the event manager.

As a participant at the FISU WUCC’s in 2016 and 2018 I know what it takes to organise a FISU event and I’m sure our championship will do a great job for the participants. We are looking forward to show the world it’s great to ride a bike in the area of Nijmegen!

Siobhan Schleijpen – Secretery/Athlete manager

My name is Siobhan. I am currently a Political Science student, avid cyclist and next year I will also start juggling this together with my activities within the board of the WUCC.
I will be doing all the tasks of the function ‘Secretary’. A lot of the first hand contact with the organization will go through me. As will matters concerning participants. So if you need anything – I’m your right hand (wo)man! I’m looking forward to this exciting year ahead of us and I can’t wait to get stuck in with my fellow board members.

Rik Timmers – Treasurer

My name is Rik Timmers. I’m a second year student in Wageningen where I’m studying Forest and Nature Conservation. My hobbies are cycling (of course), reading, Netflix and last but not least hanging out with friends doing all sorts of things.

Last year, I became a member of the student cycling association of Wageningen WSWV Hellingproof, where I’m currently a board member as treasurer. I hope that I can use this experience I collected throughout last year in my new treasurer function in the WUCC board. I’m really looking forward to next year and I’m really motivated to make the WUCC a great success!

Philip Zwier – Competition manager

I’m Philip and I am 22 years old. I am currently doing my masters degree in Industrial Engineering Management at the University of Twente. Since a few years, cycling got me hooked. Currently I am racing in amateur category at the student cycling club ‘Klein Verzet’.

In the WUCC 2020 organisation I will have the function of competition manager. A great opportunity to combine my passion for cycling, racing and organizing events. I hope to serve you exciting races in June 2020. See you next year in Nijmegen!

Anna Camps – Volunteer Manager

My name is Anna Camps. I am 20 years young and study Cultural Anthropology and Developmentstudies at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. Outside the university you can find me running at the track, biking through the many woods around Nijmegen and swimming in pools or in the Waal river. Sometimes I participate in a runningcompetition, and I even like to combine al three of them in a triathlon competition. Sport equals enjoying nature, so that’s also a reason for me to jump on a bike or over a tree trunk.

My task in the board? Take care of the staff members that will help to organize the WUCC, and of the volunteers. It is an honorable role that I will fulfill with love, joy and a lot of enthusiasm. Hope to see you all in June 2020!

Gijs Jongeneel – Media manager

My name is Gijs and I’ll be the new media manager. As a student in communication and multimedia design with a passion for cycling, I felt like the board position of media manager was made for me.

It is the responsibility of the media manager to spread the word about the WUC cycling in 2020 through various channels  and take care of all ceremonies during the event itself. It is my pleasure to be a part of this event and i hope to see you in Nijmegen next year!
